Sabrina first found me on Instagram after spending time looking through my portfolio, and from our very first conversation, it felt like a natural fit. She and Dylan connected with my style, and that shared vision made the entire planning process feel easy and comfortable, which is always my favorite way to begin a wedding day story. Not long after we connected, we realized we had a personal connection already. Dylan is best friends with a family friend of mine, and as we talked, we laughed about how we had unknowingly been at the same birthday parties over the years. Their late-summer wedding took place at Shadow Lake Ranch in Prosser, WA, a venue that feels both peaceful and welcoming, especially that time of year. The day started with a bit of uncertainty—steady rain throughout the Tri-Cities had me quietly watching the forecast and hoping for the best. But just minutes before arriving at the venue, the rain stopped, the clouds lifted, and the sun came out. The tone was set for a calm, beautiful day ahead.
First Looks That Mattered
From the beginning, Sabrina and Dylan were very intentional about how they wanted their day to unfold. They chose to save their first look for the ceremony, wanting that moment to be shared in its fullest form. That decision added a sense of anticipation that gently built as the hours passed.
While they waited to see each other, Dylan shared a first look with their daughter, Sienna. You could see how present he was with her, how that moment centered him before everything else unfolded. It set the tone not only for the ceremony, but for the way the entire day evolved.
Sabrina also chose to share a first look with her dad before walking down the aisle, and I will forever be grateful they made space for it. Tears were shed, words were exchanged, and there was a visible release of tension afterward, as if she could finally take a deep breath. Moments like these are a reminder that while timelines are helpful, intuition is everything. When couples trust their instincts and choose what feels right to them, the day unfolds exactly as it’s meant to.
A Shadow Lake Ranch Wedding Ceremony
As Sabrina made her way down the aisle with her dad, every eye was fixed on Dylan, who tried very hard (and almost succeeded) not to cry.
The ceremony itself was tender and intentional. Sabrina and Dylan chose to share their vows in front of the people they love most, and there is something incredibly powerful about that kind of openness. I love a private vows moment, but there is also bravery in saying everything out loud, together, surrounded by family and friends. At one point, Dylan gently reached up and wiped away Sabrina’s tears, and that was it for me. I completely melted.
There were also moments of remembrance woven into the day. Dylan’s dad was no longer with us, and Dylan carried a photo of him as he walked down the aisle. He later told me how meaningful that was to him, and it was a reminder that weddings hold space for both joy and memory. That balance is what made the day feel so complete.
Sabrina and Dylan are high school sweethearts, and their day reflected years of shared history, growth, and commitment. As a photographer, I never take for granted being invited into moments like these. Documenting the big emotions and the quiet in-betweens is something I carry with so much respect. I truly feel like my couple's biggest supporter on their wedding day, cheering them on, soaking it all in right alongside them, so they can relive it all, again and again, through their photos.
