That first inquiry comes through, we start chatting, we walk through packages together, and somewhere in that exchange, a vision begins to form.
Mariah’s mom reached out after finding me on Google, and from there, we chatted about what she was looking for and how we could bring it to life. Haven Flower Farm in October
I’ll be honest with you—when we pulled up to Haven Flower Farm, I had a moment. It was the very end of the season. I’m talking the last day they were open for professional photography. We had already had a couple of frosty nights, and as I looked out across the fields, all I could see at first was soft brown and dried stems. Not exactly the dreamy, flower-filled scene most people picture.
Before the session, I had already set the expectation that we might not have many blooms left, and Mariah and her mom were so trusting of that process. But tucked within all that golden, weathered landscape… we found it. A small patch of flowers still holding on. We leaned into it, letting the remaining blooms frame her while the surrounding field still created a beautiful, glowing backdrop.
By the end of it, not only had we created some of my favorite images from the session, but Mariah and her mom shared how much they loved the farm—exactly as it was. It was such a sweet reminder that sometimes the most unexpected conditions give us the most memorable results. And when you trust the process and allow the experience to unfold instead of trying to control it, you leave with something even better than what you originally imagined.
