There’s just something about a warm breeze, loud laughter, and a good old-fashioned American summer surrounded by a group of girls who are down for anything. When I sat down to brainstorm with my Class of 2026 senior reps, we threw around a ton of ideas. But this one instantly lit a spark: patriotic senior pictures with a high-energy, classic Americana vibe. The kind of shoot that feels like sparklers at dusk, road trips with the windows down, and late-night chats on the back porch in 80-degree weather with your best friends—the perfect way to kick off summer and celebrate this sweet, fleeting season of life.

The vision came together fast. I rented Hazel, the cutest little red Christmas truck, from a local Tri-Cities vendor, sent out the wardrobe inspo with reds, whites, blues, and started scouting for the perfect backdrop. But beyond the red lipstick, vintage Coke bottles, and flag details, what made this session memorable was the energy, the forming friendships, and the shared excitement of being part of something bigger than just a pretty photoshoot.

Behind the Scenes Bonding Moments

Let’s rewind for a second, before the camera ever came out. Once we picked a date that worked for everyone, I dove headfirst into planning the kind of session I could already picture so clearly. Renting Hazel (yes, she has a name), the iconic red Christmas truck, was step one in bringing this vision to life. Add in 4th of July wardrobe inspiration, a little bit of sparkle, and the classic Converse-and-denim combo, and we were well on our way. I sent the girls a mood board and they absolutely nailed it.

The day of, I was posted up with my curling wand, while my cousin—who used to be a makeup artist—dusted cheeks with glitter. The girls lounged, sharing summer plans, taking turns getting glammed up, and sipping Fiiz while music bumped in the background. I wanted these girls to actually know each other—to feel connected, supported, and seen. And watching them laugh, hype each other up, and slowly fall into step as a team was the heart of it all.

Now, if the red truck gave us those dreamy vintage Americana vibes, the second half of the shoot was good ol' summer chaos. After wrapping up our first location, we packed ourselves into the car and headed down to Chiawana Park, chasing golden hour and whatever the river had in store.

What we didn’t plan for was how alive that dock would be—boats and jet skis zooming by, and waves rocking the dock. Honestly? We held on for dear life, laughing so hard our cheeks hurt, trying to keep our balance while still looking cute. It was one of those perfectly imperfect moments—the kind that turns into a core memory. Somewhere amid all the glitter, flags, and red lipstick, I just kept thinking, “You look like the Fourth of July. It makes me want a hot dog real bad.” (If you know, you know. 😂)

But pop culture quotes aside, what made this part of the session so special was the way the girls showed up for it. Unbothered by the rocking dock or curious onlookers, they just leaned in and embraced it. That's what being a part of the SNP senior rep team is all about: showing up as you are, soaking in the moment, and not being afraid to laugh a little while you do it.

This session was everything I hoped it would be and more. The perfect mashup of patriotic energy, wild freedom, and the kind of fierce female friendships that make life sweeter. I’m so proud of the joy, confidence, and fellowship they brought to every moment.
