Some of my favorite sessions begin with the sweetest little twists of fate, and Sabrina and Dylan’s vineyard engagement photos are no exception. These two were introduced to me through my cousin and her boyfriend (who I adore, by the way), and from the start, it felt like we were already connected through that friendship thread. After browsing through my portfolio, Sabrina and Dylan shared that my photography style just clicked with them—it felt true to their story, personalities, and the kind of memories they wanted to preserve. That instant sense of alignment is always such a gift.
Now, with their September wedding on the horizon at Shadow Lake Ranch in Prosser, the anticipation is only building. Their excitement is contagious! It’s the kind of joy that makes documenting love stories like theirs such an honor.
Why Choose Vineyard Engagement Photos?
Here’s the funny thing about Sabrina and Dylan—they’ll be the first to admit they’re not exactly wine enthusiasts. But when scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration, it wasn’t the wine that caught their attention—it was the mood of the photos. The intimate and romantic vibes of the vineyards spoke to them in a way that felt timeless and a little magical, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more.
Vineyards are relaxed, elegant, grounding, and dreamy. From a photographer’s perspective, they are pure gold. The symmetry of the vines draws the eye, the textures add depth, and the way light filters through the leaves creates a soft, glowing ambiance. Even without golden hour, the vineyard carries its own kind of elegance that makes you feel like you're in a romance novel.
The Fidélitas Winery Experience
Fidélitas Winery turned out to be the perfect backdrop for these vineyard engagement photos. The winery kindly let us borrow one of their cozy blankets, provided wine glasses, and, of course, we picked up a bottle to complete the experience. These small details create such a romantic and welcoming atmosphere. Props like a blanket, a glass of wine, or even a charcuterie board transform a vineyard shoot from “pretty photos” into a full story.
As we settled in, the session quickly turned into an evening of laughter and connection. We talked about how Sabrina and Dylan met, what they love about each other, and the vision they have for their wedding day. I have to say, watching Dylan light up while sharing his ideas for the celebration was a joy. Many grooms take a step back during planning, but he dove right in. He's truly invested in this journey with Sabrina.
Of course, not every session unfolds under perfectly dreamy golden-hour light. Since Fidélitas required us to shoot during business hours, we didn’t have that glowing sunset—but we didn’t let that stop us. Instead, we leaned into the soft vineyard atmosphere. Sometimes the best photos are the ones that grow out of embracing imperfection, laughing through it together, and remembering that the heart of the moment matters more than anything else.
Tips for Planning Your Own Vineyard Engagement Session
If you’re dreaming of your own vineyard engagement photos, there are a few things to keep in mind as you plan. First and foremost, always check with the winery to see what their policies are—most require approval, and some charge a site fee for photography sessions. While it may feel like an extra step (and an extra cost), many wineries will allow you access after hours when the vineyard is quiet, private, and bathed in that golden sunset. That warm evening glow is worth every penny.
Props are another simple but impactful way to elevate your session. A cozy picnic blanket, a bottle of wine (purchased from the winery, of course), a pair of glasses, or even a charcuterie board can elevate the session and take that photoshoot pressure off.
