Something about a Walla Walla countryside wedding just feels right. Maybe it's how the golden wheat fields stretch forever or how the Blue Mountains in the distance add this quiet appeal. It's rustic, timeless, and breathtaking. I've always been drawn to the natural beauty here, and photographing weddings in this nostalgic town is constantly a dream come true. When Heather, my best friend since our wild middle school days, told me she was tying the knot at Hayden's family farm, I knew this day would be wonderful. It was a hot June day, the sun's warmth, the soft breeze through the wheat, and a homegrown ceremony on his grandparents' property—talk about sentimental perfection. The love and happiness were tangible as we gathered, surrounded by fields that held so much meaning, with those glorious Blues as a backdrop. You couldn't help but feel it in every smile, laugh, and genuine moment. It was the kind of day that stays with you, and I couldn't have been more honored to capture it all.

A Little Backstory

Hayden and Heather’s love story feels effortless and meant to be, even if it took a few tries to get there! They met through mutual friends, and while Hayden was sure from the start that Heather was the one, it took a couple of asks before she finally said yes. But as Heather will now tell you, deep down, she knew too—it just took a little time to catch up with what her heart already knew. Their relationship began as a solid friendship, and you can feel that foundation in how they laugh together and get each other. They’re the kind of couple who lights up a room—fun, vibrant, and always ready to keep the good times rolling. When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew it had to be in Walla Walla, where the beauty of the countryside and the warmth of family roots aligned with their vision. They wanted a day that felt personal and down-to-earth, surrounded by quiet nature—and there’s no better place for that than the rolling wheat fields and the Blue Mountains.

Heather & Hayden's Intimate Countryside Wedding in Walla Walla

When Heather first told me about Hayden, I prayed that he was the one for her. And I'll let you know, the moment I met him—at a wedding where we were both bridesmaids—I just knew. She knew, too; you could see how her whole face lit up around him. Fast forward to their engagement, where Hayden proposed during one of their favorite adventures—a camping trip, dirt bikes and all. So, when Heather asked me to photograph their wedding, it was the easiest, "Absolutely yes!" ever.

Their day was full of those perfect little moments that felt so them, like Heather "icing" Hayden as he went for the garter and the two Smirnoffs waiting in his truck for them at the end of the night. The bubble exit was magical, too. But what was the moment that got me the most? Right before their first dance, Hayden and I stood together, waiting for Heather. As soon as he spotted her walking back towards us, he turned to me, his eyes soft with a smile, and said, "My god, I love that woman so damn much." They were already married then, but wow, if my heart didn't just melt on the spot. Seeing one of my oldest friends find her soulmate, like we always dreamed about, was pure. And I'm so grateful to have captured every second of it.
