Having never done a professional photoshoot together, Meghan and Anthony were looking for a place that combined openness and beauty with a sense of intimacy, allowing them to focus on each other without feeling awkward around strangers. I instantly knew that a windmill farm would be the perfect backdrop for their Washington engagement photos. The windmills added a whimsical touch, and with their ties to the tiny town of Touchet, the setting felt even more special, creating a sense of belonging for Meghan and Anthony. Although we chose a location in Finley, WA, it had the same magnetic vibes, making it an ideal choice for capturing their genuine connection.

From School Friends to Lifelong Connections

Meghan and I have known each other since our school days in Walla Walla, sharing the same friend groups despite being a year apart. Growing up in a small town, once you found someone you liked, you stuck around them! Fast forward to our young adulthood, my family owned a bar and restaurant in Touchet, WA, where I worked, and Meghan took a job working for my older cousin. She often visited our establishment, and we stayed in contact. It's funny how it all worked out because Anthony is also a distant cousin of mine, just on a different side of the family from the cousin she works for. They met through our mutual friend Maddy, who is married to Anthony's stepbrother (small-town Walla Walla, am I right?).

Meghan chose me to be their photographer because of our familiarity and her confidence in my work. At their engagement session, she told Anthony, "This is why I knew I wanted Sydney—she will tell me the truth about how things look and make sure I always look my best." As with all my clients, I always have her back, ensuring photos they love and feel GREAT.

A Perfect Day at the Windmill Farm

The day of Meghan and Anthony's engagement session was flawless, with clear skies and a gentle breeze perfect for Meghan's flowing green dress. We chose this location for its picturesque windmills, providing a simple yet unique backdrop. Meghan and Anthony loved the serene, low-key setting, especially after their vibrant engagement party the night before. They mentioned how this calm environment was exactly what they needed to relax and truly enjoy the moment together.

Creating a Date Night Vibe for Your Washington Engagement Photos

Capturing the heart of Meghan and Anthony’s relationship was about creating an environment where they could be themselves and enjoy each other’s company. On that warm summer night, I aimed to make their experience feel more like a special date night than a typical photoshoot.

My goal is always for my couples to leave, saying, “Wow! This was fun; I really enjoyed it,” I’m thrilled when grooms share this sentiment as we part ways. Having a husband who used to dread photoshoots himself, I make it a point to go the extra mile to ensure everyone is at ease and having a great time. After all, it’s in those relaxed, authentic moments that the best photos are born.
