There’s something extra special about an elegant Western wedding that happens right at home. For Damon and Gracie, that dream came to life just behind their house in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, where “classy meets western” was the vibe. Their property, the one they’ve poured their hearts into, became the perfect backdrop for the day they’d been dreaming of, right down to the grass they planted together just for this moment.
Gracie told me that ever since she saw the Hinton’s photos from my Aspen Meadows barn wedding, she knew that was exactly what she wanted her pictures to feel like — effortless, timeless, and full of life. That’s the kind of energy she brought to every part of her day, too. The weather didn’t exactly scream “June wedding” (thanks, Oregon), but it couldn’t have been more perfect. Soft clouds rolled in, the wind stayed calm, and the temperature was just right. It all felt peaceful.
Ducks, Dances, and All the Feels at This Elegant Western Wedding
One of my favorite things about Damon and Gracie’s wedding day was how it was equally sentimental, playful, and completely down-to-earth. Their ducks even wandered around under the willow tree, just doing their thing, like they were part of the guest list. It was such a fun reminder that this was home. The same place where they’ve built their life together, and now the place where they started their next chapter.
When it came time for the dances, things got emotional in the best way. Gracie shared a sweet first dance with her stepdad, and Damon danced with his mom. Then the surprise caught everyone off guard. Gracie had the DJ invite her mom and stepdad out to the floor to share a dance of their own. The first one, they never got to have when they got married.
Perfectly Imperfect Weather and an Incredible Celebration
If there’s one thing Oregon loves to keep us guessing about, it’s the weather. Damon and Gracie’s June wedding day was no exception. The sky was gray enough to make you wonder if you should pack an umbrella just in case. We joked about it because, of course, their engagement session had been just as moody—cold, windy, and everything but sunshine. So naturally, their wedding day followed suit.
But the wind calmed, the rain never showed up, and the cool air made it all feel peaceful and cozy. The whole atmosphere was laid-back but full of energy. Their friends and family brought the best kind of chaos—rowdy, joyful, and full of love. Watching Gracie and Damon surrounded by that kind of support, right there on the land they built together, was such a beautiful thing. At the end of the day, everything came together exactly how it was meant to. Their elegant western wedding was a reminder that the best days don’t have to be flawless to be unforgettable.
