When Wyntr asked me to photograph her Montana engagement photos, I couldn’t help but smile, because our journey together had already been such a special one. Wyntr was one of my Class of 2024 senior reps, and over that year, we built not just a working relationship but a true bond that feels more like friendship than business. I watched her blossom through senior year, full of laughter, big dreams, and that adventurous spark in her eyes. When she headed off to Bozeman to begin her journey at MSU, I thought our chapter together might close there. But Wyntr reminded me that some stories aren’t meant to end so quickly.
When Matthew proposed around New Year’s, my heart could hardly contain the joy. I wasn’t just excited as a photographer—I was thrilled as someone who had walked beside her during such a formative time. It didn’t take long before we were tossing around dates, swapping ideas, and planning the next adventure. It was like picking up right where we left off.
Truth be told, the thought of heading back to Montana was its own kind of gift. There’s always been a piece of me that belongs there, tucked away in the mountains. So, when Wyntr asked me to pack my bags to come capture their session, my answer was a resounding "Yes!"
Montana Engagement Photos by the Lake
At the end of July, I packed up and made the drive from Washington to Montana, buzzing with anticipation to meet Wyntr and Matthew for their lakeside engagement session.
Montana, of course, had its own plans for the day. A massive rainstorm rolled through, and for a moment, we wondered if all our planning would be washed away. But instead of letting worry win, we decided to go for it. After all, I was already there, and sometimes the best memories come from leaning into the unexpected. As we pulled up to the lake, miraculously, the clouds began to part.
The mountains stood tall around us, and the sky gave us a little bit of approval before the weather turned again. By the time I headed back toward Missoula that night, the rain was falling so hard I could barely see the road, lightning streaking across the sky. Montana had held back the storm just long enough.
Love Rooted in Bozeman
Wyntr’s story has always carried the heart of adventure—leaving her small hometown of Dayton, WA, to start fresh in Bozeman for college. Matthew knew right away that she was the one. Instead of watching their love from a long distance, he chose to follow her.
Montana holds a special place in my heart, and being invited back to document such a milestone for someone who has become so dear to me was an honor beyond words. It reaffirmed my desire to spend more time here, telling love stories that feel as alive as I do when I'm here. Wyntr and Matthew’s journey is just beginning!
